The burrowing owl

Burrowing owls, unlike most of their brethren, are active
during the day as well as at night. the western speceies
takes over the den,or urrow,dug by other mammals,
such as the prairie dog, in grasslands and agricultural
areas. A characteristic is that of greeting one aoher with
a polite bow,earning them the nickname "the howdy
owls'.
