Uzbekistan

Excerpt: Ichan Kala, the old inner city of Khiva, is less than one square kilometer
and is tightly packed. the city wall in its present form was built in 1785.

Itchan Kala in Khiva was the first site in Uzbekistan to be inscribed in the
World Heritage List (1991).

A most spectacular view of Khiva sent by a dear friend, Nathan who was lucky enough to visit Uzbekistan, I didn't manage to get a visa and ran out of time for Central Asia, it remains on the top of my list on places to go. It looks mighty hot in this picture! (Sent from Kyrgyzstan)
