Crayola ad

In 1902, Binney & Smith developed and introduced the Staonal marking crayon. Then Edwin Binney, working with his wife, Alice Stead Binney, developed his own famous product line of wax crayons beginning on 10 June 1903, which it sold under the brand name "Crayola." The Crayola name was coined by Alice Binney, wife of company founder Edwin and a former schoolteacher. It comes from "craie", French for "chalk," and "ola" for "oleaginous", or "oily." The suffix "-ola" was also popular in commercial use at the time, lending itself to products such as granola (1886), pianola (1901), Victrola (1905), Shinola (1907) and Mazola (1911).

The Pennsic War

Cooper's Lake Campground, Western Pennsylvania

The Pennsic War is an annual American medieval camping event held by the Society for Creative Anachronism—a "war" between two large regional SCA groups: the Kingdom of the East and the Middle Kingdom. It is the single largest annual SCA event, with more than 10,000 people attending each year, from as far as Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, and Australia.

Pennsic is held in late summer and lasts for 17 days (begins on a Friday, ends on the second Sunday). The event centers on pre-17th century history and culture with all campers dressing in medieval clothing. The winners of the battles and other activities receive war points, and the Kingdom with the most war points wins that Pennsic.

The name Pennsic War is a combination of Pennsylvania and Punic War. The Pennsic War uses numbers to identify each war rather than the year it was held, so the 2011 event was known as "Pennsic War 40", there having been 39 previous events.

This card came inside a United Postal bag as the card had somehow

gotten terribly wet and torn apart. The postal worker had also tape

together the back of the card to keep it together and get this delivered.

Aside from that I think this is an amazing card showing a medieval 

reenactment. I've was so happy to have been to a medieval fair in 

Portugal two summers ago. Thanks to Brian for this awesome card

Gettysburg National Military Park

Soldier's National Cemetery

To properly bury the Union soldiers who died at Gettysburg, a "Soldier's Cemetery" was established on the battleground near the center of the Union line. Pennsylvania Governor Andrew Curtin supported the proposal with state funds to purchase the ground on Cemetery Hill and paid for the reinterment of the Union dead from inadequate gravesites that covered the battlefield. Today, the Soldier's National Cemetery is the final resting place for American Veterans from all of this country's major wars and conflicts, however it is closed to new burials.

Pennsylvania's nightlife

At nighttime,as well as durin the day,wildlife of all kinds abounds in the Pennsylvania countryside.

I do enjoy getting these nightcards, LA's has a Lot Tourist while PA has a Bar Hunter haha, and yep you can almost see me in the reflection of the card, thank you Irma!!
