Kumamoto 2014

Yatsushiro Myoken Festival is one of the 3 greatest festivals in Kyushu. The feast features a heart-stirring dance by ”Kida” (a 200kg turtle with the head of a snake) as well as the gorgeous ritual of the Goshinko march (or a god’s outing).

The city is filled with many visitors from Kumamoto and other regions in Japan on this day.
Yatsushiro Myoken Festival was designated as an intangible folklore cultural asset by the Kumamoto Prefecture in 1960.
