Lanterns of Vietnam

Every full moon nights, all electric lights are switched off in the old quarters of Hoi An. When the lanterns are lighted, they create a cozy and amazing atmosphere in the ancient town.

It's amazing to know that they continue this tradition, what a magical world it creates!

Kalash girl

Kalash girl in traditional robes

The culture of Kalash people is unique and differs completely from the various ethnic groups surrounding them. They are polytheists and nature plays a highly significant and spiritual role in their daily life. As part of their religious tradition, sacrifices are offered and festivals held to give thanks for the abundant resources of their three valleys. Kalasha Desh (the three Kalash valleys) is made up of two distinct cultural areas, the valleys of Rumbur and Brumbret forming one and Birir valley the other, Birir valley being the most traditional of the two.[citation needed] Kalash mythology and folklore has been compared to that of ancient Greece, but they are much closer to Indo-Iranian (Vedic and pre-Zoroastrian) traditions. This can be explained as Hellenic, Vedic traditions. Some of the Kalash people claim to be descendants of Alexander the Great's soldiers, however, extensive genetic testing has shown no connection. The Kalash have fascinated anthropologists due to their unique culture compared to the rest in that region, similar to ancient Persians

Thank you Hasnain for this ethnic card, I learnt a lot from Wikipedia about this tribe.

Ladakh

Ladakh "land of high passes" (The last Shangri-La) is a region of India in the state of Jammu and Kashmir that lies between the Kunlun mountain range in the north and the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent. It is one of the most sparsely populated regions in Jammu and Kashmir and because of the cultural and historic facts being similar to that of Tibet, it is also known as "Mini Tibet"

If I had to choose one place that I would go to in India, it would be to Ladakh first! Thank you Sita for this amazing card!
