Lavender Girl

A beautiful lavender card came into my mailbox yesterday and with a fantastic

variety of stamps! The Frozen Queen Elsa stamp is from Poland's Magical World of Disney 

stamp issue which started in 2013. 2013 were Mickey Mouse and Friends, 2014 was a Pirate Tinkerbell. It would be interesting to see what comes next year. Also there's a Saurolophus stamp 

from "the Prehistoric animals"set which was issued in 2000 to commemorate 

the Polish-Mongolian Palenthological expedition from 1963-1971.  

Also interesting is that the Postallove vertical back is written horizontally, here you can

see the different ways people write on postcards.

Dinosaur mail

Wow this fantastic mail arrived from Canada.Inside was a beautiful postcard,

a new type of postcard and the Stamp newsletter of Canada post with the 

awesome front cover of my peculiar collection of dinosaurs :) Also on the 

cover of the envelope the full set of the Love Your Pets stamp issue ,there's even a 

tabby cat in a cone that's almost a copy of my own tabby, plus some dinosaur 

stamps. Big thank you to Rob for this surprise!

Gyeongbok Palace

 

Gyeongbok Palace and Mt Inwangsan

Gyeongbokgung is a royal palace located in northern Seoul, South Korea. First constructed in 1395, later burned and abandoned for almost three centuries, and then reconstructed in 1867, it was the main and largest palace of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon Dynasty.The name means "Palace" [Gung] "Greatly Blessed by Heaven" [Gyeongbok].

In the early 20th century, much of the palace was destroyed by Imperial Japan. Since then, the walled palace complex has been gradually restored back to its original form. As of 2009, roughly 40% of the original number of palace buildings still stand or have been reconstructed.

Chihen Itza

 

Chichen Itza, one f the 7 Wonders with the Kukulkan Pyramid and the Chac Mool.

Chichen Itza was a major focal point in the northern Maya lowlands from the Late Classic (c. AD 600–900) through the Terminal Classic (c.AD 800–900) and into the early portion of the Early Postclassic period (c. AD 900–1200). The site exhibits a multitude of architectural styles, reminiscent of styles seen in central Mexico and of the Puuc and Chenes styles of the northern Maya lowlands. The presence of central Mexican styles was once thought to have been representative of direct migration or even conquest from central Mexico, but most contemporary interpretations view the presence of these non-Maya styles more as the result of cultural diffusion.
Chichen Itza was one of the largest Maya cities and it was likely to have been one of the mythical great cities, or Tollans, referred to in later Mesoamerican literature.The city may have had the most diverse population in the Maya world, a factor that could have contributed to the variety of architectural styles at the site.

Blue mountains

The commonly told legend of the Three Sisters is that three sisters (Meehni', 'Wimlah' and Gunnedoo') lived in the Jamison Valley as members of the Katoomba tribe. They fell in love with three men from a neighbouring tribe (the Nepean tribe), but marriage was forbidden by tribal law. The brothers were not happy to accept this law and so decided to use force to capture the three sisters. A major tribal battle ensued, and the sisters were turned to stone by an elder to protect them, but he was killed in the fighting and no one else could turn them back. This legend is claimed to be an Indigenous Australian Dreamtime legend.
