Chinese opera

Excerpt on back: The Sheng is the main Male role in Beijing Opera, whis has four subtypes: Laosheng (the elderly) xiaosheng (the young),wawasheng (the children) and wesheng (the acrobats) in line
with the attributes, characteristics and performance. The laosheng is a dignified older role.
Generally speaking these characters are upright and persistent, usually dressed with false black or gray beard. The xiaosheng can be classified into scholars, generals, officials and others in light of
social status. The wusheng is a martial character for roles involving combat.

A cultural scene of Chinese Opera performed during "Hungry Ghost" festival.

Mei Yuen Theatre group

Love this Chinese Opera card!
When I was younger I cringed everytime I hear the theatrics of
their drama but now I have a new appreciation for this and it's
a disappearing art as people no longer watch Chinese Opera.
Thank you to Karen from Tamsui for this great card!
