Pirates

Excerpt: One of the most famous pirates in the Carolinas was Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Teach Thatch. In 1717 Blackbeard captured and converted a French merchantman into a 40 gun warship, Queen Anne's Revenge. In 1718 he established his base in a North Carolina inlet and made an arrangement with Charles Eden, then governor of the North Carlina colone. British Naval
forces later were able to kill Blackbeard and affixed his head to the of of the bowsprit of a
British ship.

Wow what a fabulous postcard! Pirates! almost makes me want to start a new theme....
I shall refrain! Thanks to Margaret for such a cool card, and you can see a little
skull cut out next to the treasure, neat!

San Marino

San Marino, officially the Republic of San Marino,  is an enclaved microstate surrounded by Italy, situated on the Italian Peninsula on the north-eastern side of the Apennine Mountains. Its size is just over 61 km2 with an estimated population of about 32,000 with its capital being the City of San Marino and its largest city being Dogana. San Marino has the smallest population of all the members of the Council of Europe.

The country's economy mainly relies on finance, industry, services and tourism. It is one of the wealthiest countries in the world in terms of GDP (per capita), with a figure comparable to the most developed European regions. San Marino is considered to have a highly stable economy, with one of the lowest unemployment rates in Europe, no national debt and a budget surplus. It is the only country with more vehicles than people.

The 133rd country in my collection. Thanks to Ruedi for this beautiful card!

My first from Andorra

Andorra , officially the Principality of Andorra ,also called the Principality of the Valleys of Andorra] (Catalan: Principat de les Valls d'Andorra), is a landlocked microstate in Southwestern Europe, located in the eastern Pyrenees mountains and bordered by Spain and France. It is the sixth smallest nation in Europe, having an area of 468 km2 (181 sq mi) and an estimated population of 85,000 in 2012.[2] Its capital, Andorra la Vella, is the highest capital city in Europe, at an elevation of 1,023 metres (3,356 ft) above sea level. The official language is Catalan, although Spanish, Portuguese, and French are also commonly spoken.
Created under a charter in A.D. 988, the present Principality was formed in A.D. 1278. It is known as a principality as it is a monarchy headed by two Co-Princes – the Spanish/Roman Catholic Bishop of Urgell and the President of France/President of the French Republic.
