Radio City Hall

Radio City Music Hall is an entertainment venue located in Rockefeller Center in New York City. Its nickname is the Showplace of the Nation, and it was for a time the leading tourist destination in the city. Its interior was declared a city landmark in 1978. It is used in America's Got Talent for Judge Cuts, Semi Finals, Quarter Finals and Finals.

Broadway , New York

Broadway is a road in the U.S. state of New York.It is the oldest north–south main thoroughfare in New York City, dating to the first New Amsterdam settlement. The name Broadway is the English literal translation of the Dutch name, Breede weg. Broadway is known widely as the heart of the American theatre industry.

Stegosaurus

Stegosaurus( meaning "roof lizard" or "covered lizard" in reference to its bony plates) is a genus of armoured stegosaurid dinosaur. They lived during the Late Jurassic period (Kimmeridgian to early Tithonian), some 155 to 150 million years ago in what is now western North America. In 2006, a specimen of Stegosaurus was announced from Portugal, showing that they were present in Europe, as well.Due to its distinctive tail spikes and plates, Stegosaurus is one of the most recognizable dinosaurs. At least three species have been identified in the upper Morrison Formation and are known from the remains of about 80 individuals.

East Village, NY

East Village is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, bordered to the west by Greenwich Village, to the north by Gramercy Park and Stuyvesant Town, to the south by the Lower East Side, and to the east by the East River.

The area was once generally considered to be part of the Lower East Side, but began to develop its own identity and culture in the late 1960s, when many artists, musicians, students and hippies began to move into the area, attracted by cheap rents and the base of Beatniks who had lived there since the 1950s. The neighborhood has become a center of the counterculture in New York, and is known as the birthplace and historical home of many artistic movements, including punk rock and the Nuyorican literary movement. It has also been the site of protests and riots.

East Village is still known for its diverse community, vibrant nightlife and artistic sensibility, although in recent decades it has been argued that gentrification has changed the character of the neighborhood.

Whiteface Mountain

Whiteface Mountain is the fifth-highest mountain in New York, and one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Set apart from most of the other High Peaks, the summit offers a 360-degree view of the Adirondacks and clear-day glimpses of Vermont and even Canada, where the skyscrapers of Montreal, 130 km away, can be seen on a very clear day. Located in the town of Wilmington, about 21 km from Lake Placid, the mountain's east slope is home to a major ski area which hosted the alpine skiing competition of the 1980 Winter Olympics.

Statue of Liberty

 

The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on Liberty Island in the middle of New York Harbor, in Manhattan, New York City. The statue, designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28, 1886, was a gift to the United States from the people of France. The statue is of a robed female figure representing Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, who bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue is an icon of freedom and of the United States: a welcoming signal to immigrants arriving from abroad.

Aside from visiting cemeteries and catacombs, I also enjoy finding beautiful bookstores like the Shakespeare and Company bookshop in Paris, Livraria Lello in Porto or Acqua Alta in Venice. Wonderful places where imagination takes off and you escape into a new adventure, a book card for the bookworm's soul, always nice to be thought of, thank you Marte for sharing this from New York :)

9/11 Memorial

 

The National September 11 Memorial and Museum is the principal memorial and museum commemorating the September 11 attacks of 2001. The memorial is located at the World Trade Center site, on the former location of the Twin Towers destroyed during the attacks.

When I was in Florence,Italy exploring a basilica, I came across the statue that inspired the Liberty Statue's sculptor, pretty cool trivia! Thank you Ann for this lovely card!
